Queen of Light - Autumn song

...for this is the turning of the year,

the final scene before the curtain falls.

Autumn song - Epilogue

Today I've had a song in my head it was the Autumn song by Magna Carta from the Seasons album. This is an album I often listen to even though it is very old, it must be from the late sixtees.

Well, it is now the last days of September and the Autumn song- the Epilogue of my garden begins. This Rose is called Lichtkönigin 'Lucia' which means the queen of the light and she is certainly the brightest of all flower in my garden now. Planted in 2007 and she has been fantastic the whole season.

And she is fragrant as well! A scent of lemon and apple.

Lichtkönigin 'Lucia' in Tyra's Garden

LICHTKÖNIGIN LUCIA
(Kordes 1966).

Storlek: 2.0x3.0m. Zon IV.

Här kan du hitta Lichtkönigin Lucia. Flora Linnea.

Boost up your Immune System - with a remedy from the garden.

This post 'Boost up your Immune System - with a remedy from the garden.' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden

The 2009 flu, the Swine Influenza. A virus subtype H1N1 is here but is it going to be pandemic? Well we don’t know this yet. But here are some tips and ideas what you can do to avoid getting the Swine flu.

They say to wash your hands thoroughly and often are the most important thing to do. You can also boost up your immune system with vitamins, minerals and herbs. Some of them are quite familiar; perhaps you already have them in your garden.

Boost up your immune system with a remedy from the garden.

1. Zinc you find among other things in seeds like; sunflower, poppy, sesame, mustard and linseed.

2. Vitamin C - Fruits and berries and do you remember the Sea-Buckthorn Hippophae L? It has 12 times more vitamin C than oranges!

3. Vitamin DGardening is excellent for the vitamin D uptake :-)

4. Vitamin E, omega 3 and 6 and Zinc as well from Flax. Linum usitatissimum Flaxseed or linseeds oil.

5. Herbs good for the immune system; Echinacea augustifoliae radix, Echinacea purpurea and Echinacea pallida. (radix)

6. Probiotics - like the Acidophilus (a beneficial bacteria)

This last one is not from our gardens but you can find it in a lot of products, I buy as Filmjölk and it is really good for the stomach.

And then again, wash your hands! It's easy and absolutely free.

Update

From our Doc. Green thumb.

'That post was so insightful dear Tyra! The only effective method to fight Swine Flu has to be through personal hygiene and immunity enhancement. While the health authorities keep harping about the masks and Tamiflu, they neglect the most important and basic things which you beautifully highlighted.'

Thank you!

Another huge thank you to my Blotanical friend that has nominated my blogs for best European blog! I'm amazed and very happy. Blooming Friday again, the weeks goes so very fast! This is the last Friday of this gorgeous month September. You find more participants here at Katarina.

Blooming Friday with Plums and Sweetpeas
~~~
Plum marmalade with a Jamaican touch.
This is what you need; 6,5 pounds of plums, about 6dl/20fl.ounces of water, Rom, 1 red hot chilli pepper, YOGI tea and 17,5 ounces of sugar with pectin.
And this is how you prepare it.
6,5 lbs of plums and about 6dl/20fl.ounces of water just enough to keep it simmering nicely without burning. Simmer for an hour. After 45 min. pour in a ‘splash’ (½dl) of Rom, add a piece of finely chopped red hot chilli pepper and at last 1 tablespoon of YOGI tea the ‘Jamaica blend’ which contains a lot of lovely herbs and spices, Chicory, cinnamon cassia, barley malt, carob, cardamom, black pepper, licorice, blessed thistle. Now to the sugar, add 500 gram/ 17,5 ounces of sugar with pectin and simmer for 5 min.
Plommon marmelad med en touch av Jamaica
Det här är vad du behöver; 3 kg plommon, 5-6 dl vatten, Rom, en röd chili, en dryg matsked YOGI tea ’Jamaica blend’ och ½ kg syltsocker.
Tillagning
Till knappt 4 kg plommonmarmelad, ta 3 kg plommon och knappt 6 dl vatten (eller så lite som möjligt utan att det bränns vid) . Låt sjuda långsamt en timme tills plommonen nästan har löst upp sig och bildat ett jämnt fruktmos. När det är en kvart kvar häll i en skvätt Rom, en bit finhackad het chili, och en dryg matsked av YOGI tea ’Jamaica blandning’ med bl.a. kanel, kardemumma och svartpeppar. Tillsätt nu syltsocker c:a ett halvt kilo, koka ytterligare 5 min.
The Sweet pea Lathyrus odoratus a most welcome September flower in my garden, it has this wonderful scent that I love so much, it reminds my of my grandma's garden.
Luktärtens doft är så underbar tycker jag... den påminner mej om min mormors trädgård. Den sprider skönhet och väldoft i min trädgård så här i september månad.
Dahlia Mignon in my Potager
This post 'Dahlia Mignon in my potager' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden
Blooming Friday September, the weather is still great and the air is warm. I love this time of the year, golden days and kind of 'Chillout time' in the garden, harvesting is the main work now and it is so joyful and rewarding.This Friday I want to show you a dear friend in my potager, Dahlia Mignon. Among all my vegetables and herbs I plant dahlias and especially this undemanding single flowering dahlia the Dahlia Mignon 'Firebird'.
~~~

I love it and so does the beautiful butterflies as well.
.

I have written before and I say it again 'To combine flowers with vegatable is the Yin & Yang in my potager' I think it give me a healthy sustainable garden and it certainly adds beauty as well. Yin & Yang in Tyra's Garden 2007

Att kombinera blommor och grönsaker är både vackert för ögat och nyttigt för trädgården.

.. Dahlia Mignon among the Kale 'Nero di Toscana'

~~~
'Nero di Toscana' kallas även Svartkål och Palmkål och jag har den alltid med i min potager. Palmkålen är en form av grönkål och har avlånga krusiga blad och har en härligt mörkt svartgrön färgton.
It's is time to start gather the seed from this years flowers, are you a collector? As you know I'm a 'seedaholic' as a result of that my seedbank is getting a lot of deposits :-)
more cabbage...this time Brassica oleracea var. sabellica
The last lily of the season
This post 'The last lily of the season' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden
It was raining this morning when I went for my morning round in the garden. There are still some lovely blooms to enjoy, roses, dahlias and this the last lily of the season. The lilies has been incredible this year and this is the last one out...a bit sad, it has a different but lovely colouring this lily hasn't it.
~~~
~~~
~~~
